Putting the Sun in Sunset
Why do so many sunset shots not look as majestic as they did when you snapped the shot? One reason is not waiting for the Afterglow after the Golden Hour. The other reason is technical.
Even today's cameras cannot capture the detail of both a very bright sky and a dark foreground. Some planning ahead needs to be done. A tripod and patience are needed to wait for the sun to actually set before taking your shots. The sky is not as bright and the colors are always richer.
Some purists think it is cheating to add the sun after the fact. I'm not a purist. I do this for a living so I use every arrow in my quiver to make my client's product glow
